Does the idea of teaching girls and boys to skateboard and study in Kabul sound inspiring to you? Check out Skateistan, the Afghan NGO that has been doing just that since May 2007. It was included in the Global Journal’s Top 100 NGOs for 2013. Volunteers lend expertise in HR, media, management and education, training our local team and increasing awareness of our activities on a global level. A passion for skateboarding is desirable, though for most volunteers teaching skateboarding is only 5% of their job. Placements with Skateistan are for a six month period only. The good news: if accepted Skateistan covers travel and lodging expenses. The bad news: this is a highly competitive placement accepting only 3-5 applicants annually.
