Poachers nearly eliminated most of the animal species that are now found at the Majete Wildlife Reserve. Thanks to the park’s rehabilitation in 2003, more than a dozen species were re-introduced into the reserve. Conservation efforts continue today, and over the course of the trip, volunteers will observe and work hands-on with the animals. Volunteers will receive training in GPS tracking, camera trapping, fixed-point photography, tree and vegetation identification, and more. Volunteers may be asked to assist with visits to local schools to present interactive material and other conservation learning tools. During days off, volunteers can explore the lower Shire Valley through a number of organized activities that are separate from the Expedition. This 12 day trip costs $3,725.
