Dive into ancient Romanian history as you learn the ins and outs of archeology. In the Carpathian Mountains, you may encounter ancient pottery, burial grounds, bones, and other artifacts. The ancient city of Deva was once home to a Dacian fortress, which has long since been buried as modern Romanian cities emerged and developed. Participating in this excavation is a great way to introduce yourself to Romanian culture and the science of archeology. You will spend in time on digs, in laboratories, and in museums as you find and analyze ancient treasures. On the weekends, volunteers can travel to nearby Brasov and take part in other social events. Depending on your dig site, you will stay in a guesthouse, camp, hostel or local host family.
