Romania is working to restore their rich heritage after the collapse of dictatorship. Romania is a picturesque European country with castles, farming villages, cities, and ski resorts. The program is located in Brasov, which is in the Transylvania region of central Romania. The volunteer work is at a local organization assisting children and adults with special needs, such as Autism, or Downs Syndrome. The Romanian state does not focus on integrating these children into mainstream schooling. Therefore, this work is vital in developing their potential and preparing them for the future. The volunteer work includes helping to make improvements and refurbishments to the two day therapy centers in Brasov, and in addition, there are a variety of interactive opportunities with the recipient community.
